A new week, a new product. Today we introduce Ultra, your connectivity port for basically everything, including “remote peering”. While we are not particularly happy with the growth of remote peering and all their shenanigans, we want to do it differently.

Our remote peering product is non-routed and not a big fat peering LAN; it means you simply get multiple VLANs towards our other peering LANs (in other metros), transported over our backbone. This allows fine-grained control, as this is useful for networks that are present in one geographical location, e.g., Amsterdam. Using Ultra, you get access to Amsterdam, and you can pick up peering in our other metros, fully controllable through our Route Server BGP communities.

An Ultra port gives you membership access to all our ERA-IX metros, including future metros if possible. If we decide to open in a metro that is too far away, we might offer different packages due to our transport expenses. As of today, you will get access to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Paris. Check our Ultra landing page for more info and pricing.

On a final note, completely unrelated, we are a Dutch company with local engineers. We are fully neutral; we are not a puppet, and we are not investor-driven. This makes us the perfect European partner in a time when sovereignty is becoming crucial.
